Pax Autocratica Frontier Routes

Frontier expeditions turn the Tyris map into a logistics puzzle with guns. Benign harvest nodes, risky outposts, and Overlord arenas all compete for your limited run time while enemy pressure escalates. This page teaches route thinking for live Early Access (unlocked August 10, 2026).

Read the map as a budget

Every node costs time, ammo, and sometimes soldiers. Every node pays scrap, cores, captives, or progress toward run objectives. Before you leave the colony, write the budget: What must return home? Cores? Iron? Prisoners? A boss clear? Then choose a path that buys that outcome.

Early-route doctrine

  1. Clear nearby low-risk harvest or salvage nodes to stabilize the first cargo return.
  2. Take one moderate combat node to test weapon and squad synergy.
  3. Avoid Overlord-adjacent routes until food, ammo, and a control-capable core kit exist.
  4. Upgrade dropship cargo when research allows so loot actually survives extraction—see Research Priority.

Pair with Early Expeditions and Day One Strategy.

Farming versus speeding

Some runs reward racing the objective while enemies are weaker. Others reward farming cores into a temporary juggernaut before the finale. Mixing both without a decision is how you arrive late, broke, and under-cored. If your kit is already synergistic, speed can be safer. If your kit is incomplete, farm one extra combat node—then stop greed before the difficulty curve outruns you.

Sector geography habits

Use Tyris System for setting context and Sectors for regional pressure notes. Treat named faction friction such as Outlaws of Alysia as route modifiers: different captives, different fight shapes, different conversion value back home.

Extraction discipline

Winning a fight with a full backpack and dying on the walk back is a colony failure. Leave escape paths, watch ammo, and extract when the budget is met. Automate ammunition production at home so “out of bullets” is not a surprise mid-route—see Raid Strategy.

Overlord routes

Sector Overlords are not “one more outpost.” Prep like a boss chapter: colony stable, versatile weapons, control cores, Capture Lock bound, and a withdrawal plan. Full fight notes: Sector Overlords.

Node taxonomy you can explain aloud

  • Harvest / salvage: low fight risk, pays materials, teaches cargo discipline.
  • Outpost skirmish: tests weapon and squad synergy, pays cores and captives.
  • Elite dens: high pattern density; bring control tools and Capture Lock.
  • Overlord arenas: boss chapters—colony must already be stable.

If you cannot name which taxonomy you are entering, you are sightseeing, not campaigning.

Information warfare on the map UI

Hover tooltips beat vibes. Note enemy level escalation, biome damage preferences, and whether the node sits on your extraction path. Plan a withdrawal hex before you greed a side fight. Dead commanders do not deliver cargo.

Multi-session route notebooks

Keep a short after-action note: which route paid, which soldier melted, which haul path clogged at home. Those notes become your private meta while public tier lists lag patches. Share them later if co-op arrives during EA.

Linking map literacy to hubs

When geography confuses you, return to Map Hub. When fight shape confuses you, open Combat and Expeditions. When the colony cannot absorb the loot, fix Production and Logistics before another push.

Cargo math before greed

Estimate backpack value against dropship capacity. If the next elite den would force you to leave scrap on the floor, extract and research cargo instead. Greed that overflows the hold is a self-inflicted tax.

Weathering escalation

When global enemy level climbs across a run, downgrade route ambition instead of pretending your starter kit scaled magically. Revisit safe harvest nodes to top off ammo crafts and healing stocks, then re-enter mid-tier outposts with a completed combination core.

Frontier wrap

Routes are doctrine made visible. Choose the payment you need, spend only the risk required, and bring the cargo home. Fingerprint frontier0810 marks this map article uniquely.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Should I always farm cores before bosses?

Only if your kit is incomplete. Synergized kits can speed objectives while enemies are weaker.

What is the biggest early route mistake?

Taking Overlord-adjacent paths before ammo crafts and control tools are ready.

Why upgrade the dropship?

Cargo capacity determines how much loot actually returns to the colony.

How do factions change routes?

They change fight shapes and captive value—plan conversion capacity before greed captures.
